Laigueglia

Laigueglia is a small seaside village bordering the towns of Alassio and Andora inserted in Sunny Bay, in a privileged position between Capo Santa Croce and Capo Mele.
According to some assumptions historical origin of the name derives from the name Aquilia, from the golden effigy of the legions of the Roman Empire along the Via Julia Augusta.
Laigueglia keeps in its alleys, squares overlooking the sea, in churches and shrines, his past built by fishermen, sailors, merchants, which earned her recognition as one of “The most beautiful villages in Italy” .
The “heart” of Laigueglia is the historic center: the “gut” rich in history and traditions, which develops linearly on the coast, including interesting examples of religious artifacts and private buildings, the narrow streets and plazas of jet sea.
The typical beach with shallow water, fine sand and mild temperatures in winter allow various sports activities and represent the main attraction for tourists.
Behind the town, the hilly offers the possibility of path routes for walking and hiking historical nature, by mountain bike, which lead to the ancient village of Colla Micheri and the castle of Andora.
