Combined into a single municipality in 1923 with Porto Maurizio, Oneglia, now the industrial center and port of the Province of Imperia, maintains the features of the ancient city of Piedmontese origin; are found lined streets and houses along the harbor and today the promenade combines Oneglia with Porto Maurizio.
Imperia is now headquarters of public and private, is home to large and important companies, has a good port facility that is the essential support for them; became a city of commerce and tourism, besides industrial and provincial administrative capital, complied with the necessary facilities, hotels and sports facilities.
The city of Imperia has been able to distinguish even for the organization of major events such as "Raduno delle Vele d'Epoca". She was also undertaken a policy of promotion of local products through the organization of International Mediterranean Food Expo.
Among the businesses we have excellent restaurants of international renown. The main street in the center of the city is crossed by elegant shops arcades where they reside. Also at the center of Porto Maurizio is just a "pedestrian zone" where there are businesses of all kinds.
Of particular interest is the "Museum of the Olive" founded by the Carli's brothers, located in the city center and opened to visitors every days.
Imperia also has an ancient sailing tradition and that is why the activity of sailing is very accurate: the Nautical Institute is famous that has tempered Italian Grand Commander of the Merchant Navy.
